Applications to the Historical Institutional Abuse Redress Scheme closed on 2 April 2025.
You can find more information on the closure of the scheme here: Commissioner Statement on End of Redress
Commissioner Fiona Ryan’s Awareness Initiatives were designed to create awareness of support, services and financial redress compensation available to victims and survivors of non-recent/historical institutional child abuse, prior to the closure of the Redress Scheme. A number of awareness raising initiatives were undertaken over the past few years – locally, across Britain and Ireland and internationally.
Whilst the Historical Institutional Abuse Redress Scheme is no longer able to receive new applications for compensation, specialist supports and services remain available for victims and survivors. For more information on supports and services please telephone the Commissioner's Office on 028 9054 4985.
